He started as a Fresh- man on the very first Brook Hill Team. As Bo says, “It was really cool to be on that first football team. Brook Hill was so excited to have a football team. There have been a lot of changes since then. The team has grown in size and has started to win district titles. And when Coach Klaczak arrived, football really started to be fun. I enjoy being part of the team a nd playing for Coach K. He really makes a difficult sport into one that is lots of fun to play.” Bo’s real name is actually Robert. His grandmother ga ve him his nickname - it is short for Bob. Bo was born in Denver, lived in Florida from age one to age 12 when his family moved to Jacksonville. His par- ents wanted to live in a place where there were a lot of outdoor activities for Bo and his brother and had a nice family atmosphere. Bo’s father, O.H., owns Piney Woods Glass and his mother is a renowned artist. You have probably seen her melted crayon paintings all over east Texas. She does a lot of artistic work on Brook Hill theater scenery and does creative work for other school events too. Bo’s brother, Matt, is in the 8th grade at Brook Hill, and is a manager for the football team. Bo started school at Brook Hill in the 7th grade. He very much enjoys Steve Dement’s government class this year. As Bo says, “Mr. Dement is very knowledgeable. He is a great teacher, very fair about every- thing, and the field trips are great.” Bo is a guy who loves the outdoors and all sports. He enjoys going to college and professional sporting events with his friends. He is a hunter too, especially deer, pheasant, dove and quail. Since he lives by the lake, he also likes water sports such as water skiing, wake boarding, and jet skiing. Bo also likes four- wheeling, mudding and all types of outdoor sports. Besides football, Bo is an excellent golfer. He was an all-state golfer, number six in the state last year. He is hoping to get a golf scholarship to college. If not, he is looking at colleges in Texas (Texas Tech or Texas A & M) or in Florida (University of Florida or the University of Miami.) Bo was an all-district tight end in football last year. He enjoys this position since although he is not as big as tight ends usually are, he is able to catch the ball and also is able to block the linebackers and corner- backs-just be quick and sneak up on them and pound th em. His words of wisdom for players are, “Listen to what the coach says and you will learn something. Do what he says or you will spend a lot of time run- ning. Be a leader. Don’t be a clown and mess around. Have a good time, but don’t be stupid.” Bo is a free spirit and every team needs one—but only one. I have seen Bo grow and mature and take his role on the team seriously this year. As a player , his development has been outstanding and he has be- come more involved as a team leader. Bo’s wit and intelligence make him a pleasure to be around. Bo is a “people” person and will be successful in any endeavor. I can’t wait to see what life path Bo chooses— whatever it is it will be fun to watch. QB Austin Langemeier threw a touchdown pass to Luke Miller for the Guard’s first TD. The defense was led by Jared Dickey, Grady Dennis, Jimmy Johnson, Logan Kirkpatrick and Mason Jones. Ladies of the Guard Football Forum Due to hurricanes, rain and other an- noying weather-related activities, we have rescheduled this event for Home- coming Week. Event will be held on Wednesday October 15th - 5:30-7PM. Coach Klaczak along with the Guard coach- ing staff will host the first annual “Ladies of the Guard” Football Forum at Herrington Stadium. This camp is designed especially for all moms, sisters, aunts and women of the Guard, and will teach participants the ins and outs of football. Come join us on the field. Learn to be a wide receiver. Under- stand the meaning of a “draw play” , a “halfback pass” and a “48 sweep”. Participants will move from station to sta- tion just as in a varsity football practice, learning the various blocking and passing schemes. Subjects to be covered will include equipment, officials’ signals, and position responsibilities. Registration begins at 5:00PM at the main gate of the stadium. The forum begins at 5:30PM. Participants should wear workout apparel and tennis shoe s for active participa- Food, drink and a camp t-shirt will be pro- vided. Registration f must be over 16 years old.
